Ray Bradbury

     Captain Beatty is the captain of the fire station that Guy Montag is part of. When Montag is starting to doubt himself and if burning books is right,  Beatty goes over to Monatg's house and tells him the story about how they were created. How firefighters were created because of the people not waning to read books, or not having the attenion span to do so. How the people oulawed the books, not the govenment. The people were the ones who gave up on reading, the government only enforced it.

     All along Captain Beaty knew that Montag had books, he was just waiting to see what Montag would do, and if he would go back to normal. When Captain Beatty comes to burn down Montag's house and all his books Beatty sees Montag tilts his head to the side and knows tha Montag has a seashell in his ear. When Beatty takes the seashell and tells Montag that he is going to trace the seashell back to whoever Montag is talking to Montag, in rage, kills Captain Beatty and three other firefighers there.
