Clarisse McClellan was Guy Montag new neighbor. The McClellan family is different from most others, because instead of staring expressionlessly at the parlor walls, they talk. They talk to each other, and they talk about their days and what society is like. Clarisse's uncle likes to tell Clarisse stories about his experiences and share his wisdom with her. He has told her that when you look at the moon, there is a man; that there is dew in the morning on the grass; and that he once was arrested for being a pedestrian. Clarisse McClellan looks up to her uncle.

     Clarisse McClellan has an impact on Montag, large enough that Montag decides to steal a book from a fire. The government notices, and kills Clarisse. They tell Montag that she was hit by a car.
