The point behind Ray Bradbury's book, Fahreheit 451, is to not get to involved with electronics and to focus on what really matters, what REALLY exists. Humans exist, so does your family, so does nature, and so does God; they all have more importance than anything on a screen could.
The point behind the song is to tell us we may not have a purpose in life anymore because science will be so advanced, that we will not need to do anything, machines will do it for us. It tells us that we have the choice between our destruction of the world being all used up with nothing left to give to us, or our prosperity in having nothing to do. No passion, no blood children, no surprises, maybe even our emotions and personality will be taken away from us.
Even though Ray Bradbury lived about 50 years ago, the events he predicted are starting to happen. We have earbuds which can be compared to seashells, parlor walls can be compared to TV, and the Hound can be compared to a robot. Nowadays, everyone is too involved in their electronics to do anything or even think about anything that matters. Fahrenheit 451 and this song both tell us to not be absorbed in the fake world of electronics, but to focus on real life and all the people in it. As you heard in the song,'If man is still alive' if we keep following this track we might not survive. Most studies show that violence on the internet can lead to real life violence. If we keep on playing realistic, violent games, we might not be able to tell the difference between ending a real life or ending a fictional one.
Today's society is violent, and it has only gotten more violent over the years. Both the song and the book give us the warning that we may be on our way to our own self-destruction.
Both the song and the book tell us the same message, if we do not stop and look at our past mistakes, we will make them again and again. Our past is not something to deny, or destroy, or even ignore, but our past is something we should learn from. We need to learn from our mistakes or we will make them again.
